To access a Home Care Package an assessment is required through the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) and can be arranged through My Aged Care (MAC). Please call MAC on 1800 200 422 and tell them that you want Merri Health as your preferred provider and they will arrange an assessment for you.

Some people may also have to pay an income tested care fee (up to $37.55 from 20 September 2024). Whether you will need to pay the fee, and how much you will need to pay, will be determined through a formal income assessment from Services Australia. Read more about the income assessment.
If you have to pay this fee, it will be deducted from the government subsidy you receive as part of your Home Care Package funding.
There are annual and lifetime limits on how much you can be asked to pay.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) provides entry-level support for older people who are still able to manage living at home but could do with some extra assistance. Services are prescribed by a Regional Assessment Service (RAS).
Home Care Packages (HCP) provide higher levels of support for older people who have more complex needs. Recipients are also able to choose which services they want to use their funding on.
