Primary school children and their families took part in free handwriting workshops to help address the impacts of COVID-19 on their handwriting and fine motor skills.
The workshop was developed as part of our School Ties program in response to parents’ concerns about their children’s handwriting skills and the unaffordable cost of handwriting resources.
Naelah, our School Ties Community Champion, identified this gap and created an interactive workshop suitable for children and their families.
Eight different schools have completed the workshop with over 60 people at each session. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive!
One parent said, ‘Oh wow! The program is AMAZING. My kids and I loved it. In fact, my kids wait for Wednesday. They have made new friends and even found some old ones.’
Children were able to practice their handwriting and participated in activities such as playdough, Lego, beading and drawing, which saw many children connect with each other.
