We advocate to #ChangeTheDate for a National Day of Celebration that embraces inclusivity and respect for all.

As a health organisation, we are committed to closing the health gap that exists between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people.

We stand for initiatives that promote respect, recognition, and inclusion, listening closely to the voices of communities calling for change.

January 26 is not an inclusive day for everyone. For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, it is a day of mourning, marking the beginning of colonisation, dispossession, and significant changes to life, communities, and cultures.

These events have lasting impacts on health, opportunities, and equality.

Merri Health staff can now choose to swap a public holiday for another workday.

This Sunday, our Carer Gateway service will proudly join the Share the Spirit Festival. It is a fantastic chance to connect, learn, and yarn about support for First Nations carers.

Let’s work together to make January 26 a day for everyone. Find out how you can support the #ChangeTheDate movement by visiting Clothing the Gap’s website.
