Your new role
The Graphic designer and digital content producer is responsible for the execution of in-house design and multimedia initiatives, developing compelling, high-quality assets across diverse mediums, including print, digital, web and social media to promote awareness and positive engagement with Carer Gateway program.
As a brand guardian, the Graphic Designer and Digital Content Producer plays a pivotal role in supporting a diverse range of stakeholders. This involves providing expert advice and guidance to ensure that all marketing and communications materials, consistently adhere to and reinforce the brand guidelines.
You will be responsible for
Branding and Collaboration
- Acting as a custodian of Carer's Gateway Branding & Communications Framework ensuring all marketing and communication materials used by different stakeholders align with established brand guidelines.
- Providing expert guidance and advice to different stakeholders on how to effectively use the brand elements in various design and content initiatives.
- Reviewing and approving design and content materials to ensure consistency and adherence to brand standards.
Content Creation and Design
- Developing compelling graphics and visual content for digital platforms (including websites, social media, email marketing, digital advertising and intranet/extranet) as well as for print materials. Engaging diverse carer cohorts and stakeholders and supporting the strategic and operational goals of Carer Gateway strategic goals.
- Designing marketing collateral, including brochures, flyers, posters, banners, billboards, newsletters, information packs, annual reports, magazines and other printed and digital publications.
- Creating innovative and engaging event materials, including custom-designed invitations and eye-catching signage, to enhance event experiences and convey key messages effectively.
- In consultation with the Strategic Marketing and Communications Lead and the Merri Health Marketing Manager, working collaboratively with web developers to refine and elevate web design, prioritising user-friendly interfaces and responsive layouts for an optimal online experience of Carer's Gateway stakeholders.
- Designing dynamic and impactful email templates for marketing campaigns, surveys and newsletters using SWIFT, ensuring they are tailored to resonate with the diverse needs and preferences of various stakeholders.
- Understanding the properties of materials to determine their suitability for the functional and aesthetic requirements of different design projects.
Visual Communication
- Developing compelling graphics, infographics, illustrations, and interactive visuals, including data visualisations and icons, to boost engagement among stakeholders, with a focus on reaching and resonating with hard-to-reach cohorts.
- Conceptualising and designing a range of branded merchandise, including T-shirts, notepads, and various other items, embodying the brand's identity and values.
- Editing and retouching photos for digital use, guaranteeing that the final visuals are of the highest quality and suitable for various online and print platforms.
- Producing, editing and overseeing the development of animations, promotional videos, and multimedia presentations working in close consultation with the Commonwealth Government and Merri Health Marketing to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Project Management
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gain a deep understanding of their objectives and translate these into creative and effective visual solutions that align with overall project goals.
- Efficiently managing multiple design projects and content production initiatives, overseeing them from the initial brief to completion, while ensuring timely delivery and maintaining high-quality standards in the final outputs.
- Coordinating the production and distribution of assets, working closely with external agencies, printers, and internal stakeholders, to ensure the delivery of high-quality results.
- Staying informed about the latest trends in design, printing, emerging technologies, and new material discoveries.
Strategic Marketing Support
- Using design to tell compelling stories about Carer Gateway services, impact and achievements supporting all marketing and communications campaigns.
- Supporting the execution of the Carer Gateway State Marketing and Communications plan and assist in the deployments of the digital strategy across the state of Victoria.
- Addressing promptly and effectively queries from stakeholders ensuring that responses align with and consistently support the broader marketing and communications strategy.
Brand Management
- Supporting the management of Carer Gateway brand and visual identity, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and the Commonwealth Government’s Branding and Communications guidelines.
To succeed in this role you will have
Essential:
• Formal tertiary qualifications in graphic design.
• Demonstrated experience in similar roles within marketing and design.
• Strong understanding of branding principles and the ability to incorporate them into all design work.
• Experience in designing for a broad range of mediums (print and digital) and knowledge of current design trends and technologies
• Experience in data visualisation and creating infographics.
• Good knowledge in UX/UI design, and HTML/CSS.
• Good knowledge of web design principles and responsive design.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively under pressure.
• Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, CANVA and other relevant tools.
• A genuine passion for all facets of design with a desire to make a positive difference
- Ability to receive and integrate feedback constructively from various stakeholders.
• General photography and video editing skills.

• Exceptional project management skills with an ability to work across competing priorities.
• Confident, positive, flexible and a “can-do” mindset.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exceptional stakeholder and relationship management skills, with proven ability to collaborate and create partnerships to influence positive learning outcomes
• Experience within the not-for-profit sector and/or working within a values-based organisation
• Experience working with carers and an understanding of the challenges facing carers.
