- Physiotherapist - Grade 2 Position
- 5-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Long Service Leave Cover)
- Position Type: Fixed Term - Part Time - 0.5 FTE
- Location: Coburg and other sites as required.
YOUR NEW ROLE:
Physiotherapists funded under the Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACCPYP) program and Community Health (CH) program generally provides service to clients under the age of 65 (under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), some of whom have a functional disability that risks a loss of independence. Being partly HACCPYP funded, the role operates in accordance with the principles of the Active Service Model (ASM), aiming to maximise clients’ and carers’ functional independence and their ability to participate fully in the community.
The role also has a particular focus on marginalized and disadvantaged communities.
This position undertakes the general duties of a physiotherapist, providing direct and comprehensive high quality and evidence based services.
This position interacts closely with the multi-disciplinary team and other service providers, both internally and externally. It will involve working across different sites which may change according to service need.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- High-quality individualized assessment and management of clients who often present with multiple factors affecting their health and wellness.
- The caseload consists predominantly of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic disorders, including paediatric conditions such as plagiocephaly.
- Clients also present with chronic conditions, including diabetes, cardiac and respiratory diseases, paediatric, women’s health, and neurological conditions.
- Participation in planning, delivery, and ongoing management of group exercise classes (land-based and aquatic).
- Delivering 1:1 centre-based physiotherapy with goal-oriented and time-limited treatment options, including (but not limited to): exercise prescription tailored to the client’s needs and clinical presentation, group-based programs, manual therapy, client education, and motivational interviewing.
- Participation in multidisciplinary care coordination, treatment planning, and goal-directed care planning for client management as appropriate.
- Attendance and participation in regular clinical support meetings and quality project planning.
- Opportunity to be involved in physiotherapy student placement planning, supervision, and feedback.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Current Physiotherapy registration with AHPRA.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with clients with musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, and neurological conditions. Grade 1's transitioning to Grade 2 (minimum 2 years' experience) are welcome to apply. Those returning from a short period out of the workforce are also encouraged to apply.
Desirable:
- Experience and a keen interest in women's health and paediatrics, as both are part of the caseload.
- Ability to work autonomously in a dynamic multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience with development, implementation, and evaluation of group exercise programs and aquatic therapy.
- Work in a passionate, engaged, and supportive team.
