Young Carer Program: Canoeing on the Yarra
Connect with other young carers this school holidays by exploring the Yarra river on a canoe!
What the day involves:
Known to Aboriginal communities as the Birrarung, the Yarra River is one of Melbourne’s most treasured waterways. We will spend a day in Yarra Bend Park and explore the river on a canoe. Come experience the river with us from a unique perspective, and gain some outdoors skills along the way.
- Learn basic canoeing skills
- Immersion in the natural environment
- Slow down and spend time connecting with fellow young carers
- Enjoy a picnic lunch with the group
What is included:
- Transport to and from the river
- Lunch, drinks and snacks
- Waterproof jackets
- All paddling equipment
- When: Wednesday 10 July
- Where: Yarra River, exact location to be confirmed
- Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Eligibility to attend:
This is an event for young carers (16-25 years of age) registered with Merri Health Carer Services or Carer Gateway. If you are not registered with Merri Health Carer Services or Carer Gateway as a young carer, we will call you for additional information to get you registered.
Please note: due to funding requirements participants must reside in: Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Melbourne, Merri-bek, Nillumbik, Whittlesea or Yarra local government areas to attend the program.
Participants must be 16-25 years of age to attend the program.
